Insulated Smart Tool Cabinets with RFID Tracking

Tool control on a high-voltage site is an electrical safety measure, not a housekeeping preference. We build insulated smart tool cabinets with position control, RFID issue tracking and access control for substations, power plants and switchgear rooms.

Why tool control is part of the electrical safety specification

Inside a switchgear enclosure, a dropped spanner does not stay a dropped spanner. That is why cabinets with position-based control are specified on substation work: the check that every tool is back in its place is the same check that confirms nothing has been left inside the equipment.

A cabinet without position control gives you an inventory. A cabinet with it gives you a before-and-after state that a supervisor can sign against.

The specification question that matters is the audit trail

What settles a tool-control specification is whether the cabinet records who took what and when, and whether that record can be produced for a permit-to-work.

That drives the access-control decision: face recognition, fingerprint, RFID card or PIN, and how the record is exported. Tell us the procedure the cabinet has to satisfy and the access method follows from it.

  • UHF RFID tool tracking with position control
  • Face recognition, fingerprint, RFID card or PIN access
  • Dehumidification for long-term storage of insulated tools
  • Cold-rolled steel construction, customisable sizes
  • Configured to your tool list rather than a fixed kit

Insulated tooling belongs in a controlled store, not a locker

Insulating tools only hold their rating if they are stored properly. The failure that matters is not theft but damage: a mat, glove or rod that has been crushed, contaminated or stacked against something sharp can be past its usable state while still appearing serviceable.

A cabinet that controls humidity and keeps each tool in a defined position addresses both the damage path and the audit path in one asset.

Configured to the tool inventory you actually hold

Tool cabinets are specified from the tool list, not from a fixed catalogue kit: the number and dimensions of each tool, the access method, and whether the cabinet has to move between sites or stay installed in a room.

Because the cabinets are manufactured in our own plant, the internal layout, the labelling and the brand can be built to the buyer, which is what makes them workable in a private-label or OEM programme.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the cabinet prove that no tool was left behind?
Through position control: every tool has a defined place, and the cabinet records the state before and after issue, together with who accessed it and when. That record is the evidence a permit-to-work procedure requires.
What access-control options are available?
Face recognition, fingerprint, RFID card and PIN are all supported, and the right one is chosen from the procedure the cabinet has to satisfy. Tell us what the audit trail has to produce and who is allowed access.
Can the cabinet be built to our tool list?
Yes. Cabinets are configured from your tool inventory — sizes, quantities and access method — rather than supplied as a fixed kit. Send the tool list and we will propose a layout.
Is dehumidification available?
Yes, a dehumidification option is available for cabinets that store insulated tools and PPE long-term, so the storage environment does not become the reason a tool fails inspection.
